How to Make a Ghost Costume That Gets Noticed

ItemTitle

Ghosts have been a part of Halloween for centuries. There isn't a Halloween display, storybook or movie that doesn't have a ghost of some kind or other in it. But not all ghosts are created equal. There a lot of different ways to make a ghost costume but if you want to learn how to make a ghost costume that really gets noticed in a crowd of horrible haunters, you're going to have to put a little more creativity into it.

But to keep traditionalists happy, we will first cover the easiest and most frequently made ghost costume. All you have to do is cover yourself with an old white bed sheet. Before you put on the sheet, however, put on a baseball cap or some other type of hat. Once you have the sheet in the right place, pin it to the center of cap. This little tip will make the sheet stay put and keep your cut out eye holes aligned with your eyes for proper visibility. Now have someone help you mark the eye locations or you can do it yourself by sticking a sticker of some sort to the front of the sheet where your eyes are. You need to also mark a spot on each side of the sheet where you can cut a slit for your hands to come through.

Now remove the sheet and lay it out flat on the floor. Cut out circles where you have marked the eyes, as well as the slits in the sides for your hands. The last thing to do is take some eyeliner or a charcoal pencil and color black circles around the cut out eye holes. And there you have a traditional ghost costume!

But if you want really want to be the ghost with the most, you'll have to figure out how to make a ghost costume that stands out. So here are just a few ideas for doing just that.

You can add some chains that rattle and clank as you walk like Jacob Marley, Scrooge's dead partner in the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Instead of wearing a sheet, you get to wear a ripped old white robe and a long white wig! Or how about some of the other famous ghosts from that same movie? The ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Future? They all had very distinctive ghost apparel and would all make fantastic costumes.

Or how about the Headless Horseman from the legendary Sleepy Hollow? He was also a ghost, and a pretty scary one at that!

All you really need to do is put your thinking cap on and you'll start conjuring up dozens of ghosts that you have seen in the movies or read about in books. Then start gathering your supplies and next year you'll be the one telling everyone else how to make a ghost costume that really gets noticed!
